Hi folks! ! Actually its not the 1st time of me start to learn tech, i got my hands on various other things before including html and CSS too. So, after making so many mistakes of leaning wrong things and learning that dev ops is not for beginners cause companies don ' t hire people with no experience in dev ops, i am back to frontend again after 1 yr and forgetting all my previous work on it i am gonna enter in my 2nd yr of college and hopefully i won ' t choose wrong paths now. So, to start, today i learned about various tags like body, div, span, ext. . . And about SEO and structure for writing its looking very easy and ofc it is though, i am learning it from a one shot video cause i already knew about many things before, it is a 4 hour long video of some dude " coding by Prashant sir " , i completed 2. 5 hours of the video today and it took me about 3. 5 hours cause i am simultaniously making notes too in vs code, i will attach a copy of file, at first it is feeling very exiting and easy, i know it is not going to last same as now but i just hope that i learn at atleast this speed everyday, tommorow ' s goal is to complete next 1. 5hrs of video and complete html and complete 2hrs of CSS see ya! ! Users type, format, delete, paste images—and then inevitably smash Ctrl+Z expecting everything to magically reverse. Without the Command Pattern, you ' re staring into the abyss of " Undo Hell " : a massive switch statement trying to track every possible action, or worse, attempting to reverse-engineer state changes like some kind of code archaeologist. Been there? Yeah, we all have. The Command Pattern saves you from this nightmare. Instead of building an undo system, you build a time machine. Wrap every action in a command object, stack them up, and undo becomes as simple as popping items off a stack. Don ' t pray for perfect state tracking—queue commands and let them handle their own cleanup. The Universal Remote Reality Check Let ' s start with something relatable. You ' ve built the ultimate universal remote with three magic buttons—it can control anything! Naturally, you test it on your TV, your cat, and your spouse: TV Remote – Works like a dream. Press TurnOn → TV lights up. Press TurnOff → darkness. Press ChangeChannel → new show appears. Finally, a receiver that actually receives commands!  Cat Remote – Pure chaos. I diligently followed the Frontend Roadmap, jumping from courses to courses, checking off each item with enthusiasm. But over time, I realized I was caught in an endless cycle of chasing the latest technologies. It dawned on me that I was prioritizing the how over the why. I was accumulating tools without a clear understanding of the goals they were meant to achieve. The real value isn ' t about the number of tools you know, but from how we use them to solve meaningful problems. And as frontend engineers, we solve problems for two audiences: End-users – the people interacting with the product Developers – our teammates who collaborate on and maintain the code Shifting this mindset enable us to focus on what matter and transforms us from a good developer into a truly valuable one. Part 1: Value to the End-User – User Experience (UX) From the user’s perspective, we are the bridge between them and the product. They don’t see your code—they see and feel your interface. That’s where your first layer of value lies. 1. Accessibility Can someone using a screen reader, or navigating only with a keyboard, use your app without friction? Accessibility isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s essential for inclusivity and in many cases, compliance. Your value: Making the product usable for everyone. 2. Performance Users expect speed. A 2-second delay can be the difference between engagement and bounce. Optimizing images, reducing bundle sizes, and deferring non-critical scripts makes a huge impact. Your value: Delivering fast, responsive, frustration-free experiences. 3. Responsiveness Your app needs to work well on any screen size—from phones to 4K monitors. The meeting only happens if no one reschedules it for a certain period. When to Use: Ideal for events where you ' re only interested in the final result after a rapid series of changes. Search Bar / Type-Ahead: Trigger an API call only after the user pauses typing. Saving Input: Auto-saving form data a few seconds after the user stops typing. Expensive Calculations: Performing a complex calculation only when an input has stabilized. When I first started working with React Hooks, useEffect felt like this magical black box. You toss in some logic, slap on a dependency array, and just hope everything works. Fast forward 3. 5 years, and I’ve learned that truly mastering useEffect can make or break how clean, performant, and bug-free your components are. In this post, I’ll walk you through what useEffect actually does, how to use it right, common pitfalls, and some patterns I personally use (and avoid) in production apps.  What is useEffect? At its core, useEffect is how React lets you synchronize a component with external systems — network requests, subscriptions, DOM mutations, timers, and more. Think of it as: “Run this code after the render. ” The basic signature: useEffect (() =&gt; { // side effect logic here return () =&gt; { // cleanup logic here (optional) }; }, [dependencies]); The useEffect hook runs after the DOM has been painted. That’s important because unlike class components where componentDidMount and componentDidUpdate are separate, useEffect handles both — and more — depending on how you configure the dependency array.  Dependency Array Demystified The second argument is where the real magic happens: Dependency Array What Happens [] Runs only once (after initial render) [a, b] Runs on initial render + whenever a or b change (no array) Runs on every render // Example: Fetch on mount useEffect (() =&gt; { fetchUser (); }, []); ☝️ Always be intentional with dependencies — it affects when your effect runs. ✅ Common Use Cases Here are a few practical examples I use regularly: 1.  Fetching data on mount useEffect (() =&gt; { async function fetchData () { const res = await fetch ( ' /api/data ' ); const json = await res. Json (); setData (json); } fetchData (); }, []); 2. ️ Subscribing to events useEffect (() =&gt; { const handleResize = () =&gt; setWidth (window. InnerWidth); window. AddEventListener ( ' resize ' , handleResize); return () =&gt; window. RemoveEventListener ( ' resize ' , handleResize); }, []); 3.  Re-running logic based on props/state useEffect (() =&gt; { document. Title = `You clicked ${ count } times`; }, [count]); ⚠️ Common Pitfalls (I’ve Been There) ❌ Missing dependencies React doesn’t “guess” what your effect depends on. If you use a variable in your effect but don’t include it in the dependency array, you’ll likely run into bugs — especially async or delayed ones. ✅ Enable ESLint’s react-hooks/exhaustive-deps rule It’s a life-saver. Seriously. ❌ Doing too much in one useEffect // This is not ideal useEffect (() =&gt; { fetchData (); setupSubscription (); updateLocalStorage (); }, []); This is a code smell. Each effect should have a single responsibility. Splitting them into multiple useEffect hooks keeps dependencies accurate and effects easier to debug.  Best Practices  Keep effects focused: One responsibility per hook  Always clean up: Especially for timers, listeners, subscriptions  Use stable references: For objects/functions using useRef or useCallback  Don’t define unnecessary functions inside useEffect unless they’re only needed there  Use custom hooks to extract and reuse common effects cleanly ⚡ Real-World Tip: useEffect ≠ Lifecycle Methods A mistake I made early on was trying to map lifecycle methods 1: 1 with hooks — thinking useEffect == componentDidMount or componentDidUpdate. But that’s not how hooks work. Instead, ask yourself: “What side effect should run in reaction to this state or prop? ” This mental model leads to cleaner, more predictable code than trying to mimic class lifecycles.  Bonus: When Not to Use useEffect Sometimes you don’t need useEffect at all. Some common cases: ✅ Derived state: Compute values directly in render or via useMemo ✅ DOM reads/writes before paint: Use useLayoutEffect instead ✅ Transforming props/state: Often better handled directly in JSX or helpers // ❌ Don ' t do this useEffect (() =&gt; { setX (props. Value * 2); }, [props. Value]); // ✅ Do this instead const x = props. Value * 2; ✨ Final Thoughts useEffect is powerful — but only when used with care. Once you stop thinking of it as a lifecycle substitute and start thinking of it as a reaction engine — something that runs when certain values change — things start to click.
